A 3-Day Camping Meal Plan (2024)

A lot goes into planning a camping trip (especially if you’re trying to reduce single-use plastic!), even if you’re only headed out for a few days: booking a campsite or researching BLM-managed land, making sure you have all the right gear and camping kitchen essentials, keeping an eye on the weather forecast, and more. But as self-declared foodies, we think that creating a camping meal planner is just as important when preparing for a trip! Today, we’re sharing the best meals for camping – and even an entire 3-day camping menu – to help make planning a breeze.

Three days of camping breakfasts

Peanut Butter Oatmeal

Peanut butter oatmeal is a quick, nourishing breakfast that will help you gear up for whatever the day holds. To cut down on cleanup, we like to make oatmeal right in a Stasher bag – just scoop a single serving of quick oats into your favorite reusable bag, add hot water, and let it sit to thicken. Or for an easy camping breakfast that doubles as an on-the-go snack, make these Healthy Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies the day before your trip.

Breakfast Burrito in a Bag

You’ve heard of breakfast bowls, but we’d like to pitch you on something new: the humble breakfast bag! In a Sandwich, Stand-Up, or Quart Bag, add all of the ingredients you’d usually add to a breakfast burrito, like chunks of potatoes, scrambled eggs, green onions, bacon, cheese, and salsa. Give it a shake, and then eat right out of the bag!

Homemade Granola with Oat Milk

This homemade granola recipe gets rave reviews, and for good reason. Not only is it delicious, it’s also good for you: it’s naturally sweetened and made with whole grains, unrefined oil, and lots of nourishing nuts and seeds. Make it before your trip, and store it in a Half Gallon Stasher Bag that everyone can serve themselves from.

Three days of lunch on the move

Salad in a Stasher

This Scrappy Summer Stasher Salad is great because it minimizes food waste by using scraps from veggies you likely already have on hand (like carrot tops), and it also cuts down on single-use plastics because it can be stored and served right out of a Stasher bag. Win-win!

Vegetarian Chickpea Salad Sandwich

This tasty sandwich is loaded with crispy, crunchy veggies like radishes and cucumbers and a protein-rich chickpea filling to keep you full and satisfied while you explore. We recommend making the chickpea mixture prior to your trip and then whipping up your sandwiches at the campsite before you head out for the day’s adventures. If you’re using regular sliced bread, slide your lunch into a Stasher Sandwich Bag for easy on-the-go access, or use a Quart Bag if you’re going with a bigger sandwich.

Taco in a Bag

This brilliant recipe is a cross between a classic taco and taco salad, and it’s perfect to munch on while you take an easeful stroll or watch the sunset. To cut down on packaging waste, we recommend buying chips in bulk and distributing them in Stasher bags that everyone can eat their “taco” right out of.

Three great camp stove dinners

Hot Dogs or Veggie Dogs

Hot dogs are the quintessential camping dinner! Heat an oiled pan over the camp stove and fry up your hot dogs, turning them frequently. And if you don’t have a camp stove, don’t fret – for quick hotdogs with almost zero clean up, simply skewer your hot dogs on metal skewers or a sturdy stick and roast them over the campfire just like you would with marshmallows for s’mores (which we highly recommend as an after-dinner treat, by the way).

Campfire Nachos

This camping-friendly take on loaded nachos might just join your normal rotation of meals when you’re back home. And we love that this recipe is made in a dutch oven rather than a disposable foil pan – armed with a dutch oven and a handful of Stasher bags in various sizes, you’ll have no use for single-use foil packets or disposable pans.

Grain Bowl

Grain bowls are an excellent meal because they can be made on a camp stove or – for the avid backpackers among us – premade and dehydrated. Plus, making your own dehydrated food cuts down on both food waste and packaging waste, which is something to celebrate.

A 3-Day Camping Meal Plan (1)

Easy snacks to store in your backpack

If you ask us, camping snacks are just as important (and delicious) as meals. When camping or backpacking, opt for easy snacks that you can carry in your bag while you’re out and about, such as...

  • Trail mix
  • Dried fruit
  • Granola bars or protein bars (we love these DIY versions!)
  • Electrolyte and/or protein powder (Eco tip: to cut down on single-use plastics, buy your powders in bulk, and scoop out single-serving sizes into Stasher Go Bags or Pocket Bags.)
  • Baby carrots
  • Crunchy roasted chickpeas
