Hudson, who earned an Oscar nomination for her performance as a rock groupie in 2000's Almost Famous, revealed that music has always been her first love.

In an interview with People, ahead of the album's Friday release, the singer said she knew 'If I don’t do this, it’ll be a great regret.'

It was the Covid-19 lockdown that gave the Glass Onion actress the opportunity to really consider trying out music seriously.

'I’ve always been fearless in the decisions I’ve made, whether it is in relationships or in career, but this was the one thing that I was so afraid of. It’s like I switched something in my brain, and I was like: "I’m just going to do it. F*** it."'

In an interview conducted by her fiancé and co-writer Danny Fujikawa, 37, for Talk Shop Live x Rolling Stone posted on Instagram and Facebook Saturday, the artist answered questions submitted by her fans.

'One of our favorite songs on the album is a song we wrote together called Love Aint Easy,' Hudson offered before the Q&A began.

'It was a very challenging song for us to tackle, hence why the line "love aint easy" came up for me,' she laughed nervously, looking at her fiancé.

'But we had an amazing experience writing that song, and then it just turned out to be, just one of my favorites on the album.'

Answering a question about which track made her feel 'most emotional,' the star said, 'We'll Live Forever is a very emotional song and when I was writing that song, it's about my son, it's about being a mother, it's about being a young mom and kind of growing up with your child and watching them go, and that was very emotional for me when I was writing it and very hard for me to sing initially.

Fujikawa agreed the track tugged at his heartstrings as well.

He shot and edited the video for the song and it allowed him to 'connect with' Hudson's oldest son Ryder, 20, whom she shares with rocker Chris Robinson.
