Lazy Lasagna with Baked Ravioli | Easy Ravioli Lasagna Recipe (2024)

This recipe for lazy lasagna with baked ravioli is SO EASY and you can prepare it in less than 10 minutes! This may be the world’s easiest lasagna recipe. With layers of ravioli instead of meat sauce, noodles and ricotta cheese, it’s so much faster than making a traditional lasagna dish.

I’m a HUGE lasagna fan. But let’s be real. Life is busy, and I think there was one Sunday afternoon, a little over a year ago, when I actually had the time to make a regular lasagna from scratch. It’s kind of time consuming, so it’s just not something we make very often.

But bring on this recipe for lazy lasagna, and suddenly I have hearts in my eyes for making lasagna again. It’s SO EASY to put together! It only calls for 4 basic ingredients that get layered one on top of the other, just like a regular lasagna. Using ravioli instead of lasagna noodles is genius!

Before now, the thought never occurred to me to make my lasagna without meat, but seriously, it saves so much time when you don’t have to cook up a meat sauce!? And if your ravioli has cheese in it, it makes perfect sense to skip the ricotta/cottage cheese layer in the middle. I was inspired by the brilliant recipe over at Instrupix.

Buy a package of shredded mozzarella cheese, and POOF, that’s three steps we’ve eliminated from our lasagna. Obviously you can add those layers/steps back in if you want to… but we were going for speed here!

How to Make Lazy Lasagna with Baked Ravioli:

The full printable recipe is at the end of this post, but here’s what you’ll need:

  • Fresh or Frozen Ravioli
  • Pasta Sauce
  • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • Parmesan Cheese

The ingredients are super basic (there’s only 4!) and so is the process of putting them all together. You can use any type of ravioli you want. I used refrigerated spinach and cheese ravioli, but you can use cheese ravioli or even meat ravioli. Frozen works too!

Grab a jar of your favourite pasta sauce, some shredded mozzarella cheese and some parmesan and you’re ready to go! I’ll be honest. I got pretty lazy awhile back and I started to only buy shredded mozzarella cheese instead of grating it myself. It definitely doesn’t save any money, but it sure saves time! And with work and all the after school activities we have going on with 3 kids, I’m super grateful for whatever time I can save.

Spread a layer of pasta sauce on the bottom of your dish. (Don’t you hate it when you’re shooting a food video and the pasta comes out in a big splat?!? See the video above… haha)

The bottom layer keeps the bottom layer from drying out and it also prevents it from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

For your second layer, evenly place your ravioli one by one until it covers the entire dish. I used jumbo ravioli and my 9″ x 13″ glass dish perfectly fit 3 rows down and five across, for a total of 15 raviolis per layer (30 raviolis total for the whole dish).

Next, pour another layer of sauce on top. Be generous so each ravioli is well covered.

Now add your shredded mozzarella cheese! Generously sprinkle the cheese over the entire layer.

Just like traditional lasagna, we’re going to keep adding layers. Add one more layer of ravioli.

Add another generous layer of sauce. At this point, I had used up the entire jar.

Now, add one more layer of mozzarella. You can decide how cheesy you want yours to be by adding more or less cheese. I LOVE ooey-gooey-cheesy-goodness, so I was pretty generous with the cheese.

And finally, sprinkle some Parmesan cheese evenly over the top layer. This is completely optional, but we like the flavour it adds.

Cover your dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling and starting to brown.

Let the lasagna dish cool for about 10-15 minutes once it’s finished, just to make sure it sets properly.

It’s soooo hard to wait to cut into it, especially if you’re hungry! Plus, it smells AMAZING!

I used 3 cheese & spinach ravioli and it tasted so good! If spinach isn’t your thing you could mix it up by using ravioli stuffed with chicken, beef or just plain cheese!
