Frequently asked questions

  • What is Picnic?

Picnic is an online supermarket and the fastest growing company in the Netherlands. Our offer is simple: groceries for the lowest price with free delivery. Customers pick their groceries in our app, and we deliver them when they want. Customers can feel good ordering from Picnic, since we deliver with electric vehicles and friendly service. This way we save people time and effort, and most importantly: we make them happy!

  • Working schedule as a warehouse worker

Our warehouses are open 7 days a week. We offer three different shifts:

    06:00 – 15:00 (Morning shift)
    15:00 – 00:00 (Afternoon shift)
    18:00 – 00:00 (Student shift)

While you can determine your availability each week, we ask you to be available at least 2 fixed shifts per week. Since we need extra help on some weekends, we also ask you to be available at least 3 weekend days within a 4-week period.

Are you a student? Then you can also decide to work one evening-shift on a weekday (from 18:00 onwards), and work one weekend-shift!

Do you have questions about the working schedule? No problem! We’re happy to discuss them with you during your application process.

  • What does a warehouse worker do exactly?

Shoppers work to prepare the groceries for hundreds of customers every day. From coffee beans to ice cream, this fast-paced job can be physically demanding. It’s like being paid to go to the gym!

You will use a picking cart and a scanner to help you pick the groceries. You will work in different departments. For example, you will pick most of our products at room temperature in our “ambient” area.

The next day you will work in the “chilled” area, where we store our cooled products. Of course, you will get a warm jacket and gloves to wear. You’re responsible for collecting the cold products that customers order, like milk and yoghurt, and putting them into insulated crates. You will also ensure that the crates and containers are ready for shipment.

Our scanners help us make sure all orders run smoothly. Your team lead can also use them to coach you and support you in your professional development.

As part of our team, you’ll enjoy a catered lunch and dinner every day. We also have a great break room where you can relax. If you’re feeling competitive, you can challenge your colleagues to a game of pool or ping pong!
