If you’re a guest at a graduation ceremony, remember that the focus of the event is on the graduates. So, consider keeping your outfit not too attention-grabbing. Women can wear a cute spring dress or skirt, a nice jumpsuit or even slacks with a blouse. Remember, it can get chilly at night so have a wrap or stylish coat (trench is always a good idea) to wear to stay warm. Dress shoes or dressy sandals are great choices for footwear.
What should guests wear to an outdoor graduation?
Ifyou’re going to be outdoors for a graduation ceremony, smart casual is a wise choice. Women can wear a more casual dress or skirt with a blouse, and men can wear slacks with a button-down shirt or a polo shirt. Comfortable shoes, like wedges, flats, or loafers, are a good pick – especially if you’ll be walking on grass!

What not to wear to a graduation as a guest.
As a guest at a graduation ceremony, pick an outfit that isn’t over or underdressed. For a college graduation, darker more formal colors will be appropriate. For a high school graduation, lighter colors are more widely accepted. I would avoid wearing anything too low-cut or casual, like frayed t-shirts, ripped jeans or flip-flops. Remember, it’s always better to be slightly overdressed than underdressed!
