We make a lot of children’s mocktails at home because they are simple, relatively healthy (if you watch the sugar intake), and keep my active toddler hydrated! When it is hot hot hot, we love to cool off by sipping on these fun mocktails together.

This Easy Mocktail Recipe is fun for kids (and adults!)

Today I'm sharing an easy mocktail recipe for Minty Blueberry Lemonade. But in the back pocket of my handy mom jeans, you can bet I have a slew of easy mocktails for kids.

Just wait, and you'll start seeing more and more mocktail recipes appear on The Worktop that we’ve been experimenting with throughout the summer. In the meantime, here's one that we call Good Morning Sunburstbecause it looks like there's a bright sun floating in it. And here’s aBlackberry Ginger Mocktail that got me through those early days of pregnancy when I was *graced* with morning sickness.

But back to this Minty Blueberry Lemonade...the easy mocktail recipe that is perfect for any kid in your life (or yourself!)

As a mom, I love the concept of mocktails for kids. It's a special treat that makes my toddler feel more grown up. Maybe I'm projecting, but when I was a kid and we stayed in hotels, I would count down the time until the free happy hours. Can you guess who was always first in line for the Shirley Temple?

My siblings and I would sit around the lobby sipping on our Shirley Temples, feeling grown up. While that may be the classic drink that comes to mind when you think about mocktails for kids, I tend to stay away from making it at home because it's essentially just Sprite with more sugar syrup added.

I think of this Minty Blueberry Lemonade Mocktail as a children's mocktail because it's quite mild, can be made low in sugar, and is extremely fun and cute. But to be honest, I love this easy mocktail recipe as much as my toddler does.

Ok, so I know that kids of different ages prefer different tastes. As this is a super simple mocktail recipe for kids, I'll share a few different variations you can do with this recipe depending on how easy your kids are impressed, and how old they are.

Feel free to make these simple adjustments to this recipe so it's the perfect mocktail recipe for your kids

Personally, my go-to is adding sparkling lemonade in this recipe. I love using this Spindrift Lemon Sparkling Water because it has no added sugars. It's mild and it's refreshing. The downside is that it's not available in London, so I can only down these drinks when I am visiting my parents and my in-laws.

My toddler doesn't particularly like sparkling drinks though, so I make this mocktail for him using a very simple non-sparkling lemonade even though this is a "fancy schmancy" drink that we serve as a treat. And yes, I am one of those moms who waters down the lemonade.

I'm basically a mom who tries to get away with as much “healthy” as I can! So when I make this for him, I'll often use about ⅔ water and ⅓ lemonade, plus a bit of honey.

I've also found that our adult guests enjoy this sparkling lemon drink, particularly if it’s made with a San Pellegrino Sparkling Lemon.

You can also just use plain sparkling water with a bit of honey. This is the way my husband likes it best.Just replace the bag of snacks in this photo with a cup of this kid mocktail, and you get the picture of what happens in this household.

You don't need much to make this simple mocktail recipe, but the most important thing is having a sphere ice cube maker.Easy Mocktail Recipe for Kids - Minty Blueberry Lemonade | The Worktop (6)You might be thinking that any ice cube tray will work and technically you would be correct. For any rational adult, that would make sense.

IMPORTANT: use ice balls to make this a super fun mocktail for kids

But I promise you, there's something enthralling about a large round ice cube when you look at the drink from a two- (and even eight-) year old perspective. I can't say for other ages as I haven't tried this on every kid, but Amazon reviews seem to agree with me.

We use this super fun and cute pea-shape mold in the UK.

Unfortunately though, I can't find it on Amazon in the US at the moment. You used to be able to buy it in the US, so maybe it will come back in stock.

I've poked around and found some other sphere ice molds that look great though. Any sphere ice cube maker will do, but definitely try to buy one that allows you to freeze multiple ice balls at once.

The one we have is great, but you can't really refill individual ice balls if you only pop one out. I end up having to pop all the remaining ice balls out, putting them in a bag, and making another set of 3 ice balls.

Some of these below will allow you to make individual ice balls, so you won't run into the same slight inconvenience that we do. There are so many different styles on Amazon, so I'm sure you'll be able to find one that suits your freezer. Enjoy and hope everyone’s enjoying their summer!
